What is BestSimRigs?
BestSimRigs is a community-driven database that tracks and verifies the exact hardware setups used by professional sim racers, esports drivers, and content creators. We answer the question: "What gear do the pros actually use?"
Whether you're trying to replicate Lando Norris's F1 setup, understand how Jimmy Broadbent streams on a MOZA R21, or figure out how Super GT makes Simagic work with PS5, we've got you covered.
Why We Built This
Sim racing hardware information is scattered across YouTube videos, Twitch streams, Reddit threads, and Discord conversations. When a driver upgrades their wheelbase or changes pedals, that information often gets lost or outdated.
We created BestSimRigs to:
- Centralize verified information - One place to find accurate, up-to-date hardware specs
- Track changes over time - See how setups evolve as drivers upgrade or switch sponsors
- Help you make informed decisions - Know exactly what works at the highest level before you spend thousands
- Build a community resource - Leverage collective knowledge from sim racing fans worldwide
Source Verification Methodology
Every component in our database receives exactly one confidence tier badge based on evidence quality. This standardized framework ensures consistent and transparent verification across all driver profiles.
✅ Tier 1: Verified
Equipment identity confirmed through primary evidence.
- Direct video showing the component clearly (YouTube, Twitch, Instagram)
- Official manufacturer confirmation naming the driver
- Driver's own statement (interview, social media, stream)
- Official team/sponsor announcement with equipment list
- Professional documentation (BoxThisLap, SimBuilds, OC Racing with citations)
✔️ Tier 2: Confirmed
Strong circumstantial evidence from credible sources. Requires at least two of:
- Partial visibility in footage (brand visible but model unclear)
- Team standard equipment (e.g., Team Redline uses Simucube)
- Multiple independent community sources agreeing
- Logical inference from verified components
📢 Tier 3: Reported
Information exists but lacks visual confirmation.
- Community forum posts without verification
- News articles citing unnamed sources
- Social media mentions without photos
- Third-party database entries without citations
⚠️ Tier 4: Estimated
Educated guess based on available context.
- Component category known but specific model unknown
- Similar driver in same category uses this equipment
- Brand partnership suggests likely product line
- Price range analysis for rig budget tier
❓ Tier 5: Unknown
No credible information available.
- Component exists but no documentation whatsoever
- All available sources contradict each other
- Previously reported but now disproven
🤝 Special Modifiers
These badges provide additional context and can appear alongside confidence tiers:
- Sponsored / Partnership: Equipment provided through official sponsorship
- Undisclosed: Driver has explicitly chosen not to reveal this equipment
📋 Evidence Citation Requirements
Every verification claim includes:
- Source Name: Publication, channel, or platform
- Date: When the information was published/captured
- Description: What specifically was verified
- URL: Link to original source (when available)
📅 Update Frequency
We aim to update profiles:
- Within 48 hours of major hardware changes
- Monthly reviews for active streamers/content creators
- Quarterly reviews for pro drivers with less public visibility
